Getting ready for your visit

Prepare your curls for the cut of their life

Every head of curly hair is unique and that’s why it’s important that you properly prepare your hair in advance for your session with Anna.

We’ll need to see and assess the natural fall, structure and texture of your curls, so we ask that you come to the salon with your hair freshly washed, fully dried and detangled. Use the products you normally would but avoid excessively greasy/oily ones. Your hair should be down (no hair up after drying!) and when you feel it’s at its best. We need to see you on your best hair day. For some that will be wash day, for others it might be a day or two after.

The prep checklist

Your hair should be freshly washed, fully dried and detangled before you arrive for your appointment.

When you wash and style in advance, use whichever products you normally would.

Arrive with your hair down – no hair up after drying – so Anna can see your hair in its natural state.

Plan around your routine

Why is the prep so important?

There are so many types of curls and your curl pattern is unique to you. That’s why there’s no ‘one size fits all’ approach to cutting curly hair, especially when it comes to a curl-by-curl cut or a Deva Cut. The delicate process involves sculpting and framing your curls one at a time, and in order to do that, Anna will need to see the natural structure and fall of every curl, kink and wave.

Wet, tangled, oily/greasy hair, or hair that’s been tied up with clips or bands, will prevent us from seeing what’s really going on, making it nearly impossible to give the right cut for your curl.

For the best possible results, please do follow our prep advise, which also avoids the possibility of your appointment being cancelled on the day, or additional charges.

Yes, use whichever products you normally would. Just avoid anything excessively greasy or oily, as it hides the natural fall of your curls.

Wet, tangled, oily or tied-up hair stops Anna seeing the natural structure and fall of every curl, which makes it nearly impossible to give the right cut. It can mean your appointment is cancelled on the day or additional charges, so please arrive with your hair down.
